Birth in Loveland

Two hospitals, home births, and a lot of good choices

Loveland is home to two hospitals with labor and delivery — UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies and Banner McKee Medical Center — and plenty of Loveland families choose home birth with a midwife, too. I support all of those settings. Before labor, we’ll talk through what your hospital or midwife typically does, so nothing on the day comes as a surprise.

Some of the most important work happens before the first contraction: naming what you’re afraid of, deciding how you want to be spoken to if plans change, and helping your husband know exactly how to help. By the time we’re in the room together, nothing you say will be new to me.

Once you’re home, I come to you in Loveland for postpartum visits and in-home lactation support. If feeding is hard in those first days, you don’t have to wait it out alone.

From a family I served

“There are not enough words to describe how grateful I am to have had Jenny as our doula. She knew exactly how to support me with her words, touch, massage, and reassurance that I could do this. Her calming presence in an intense situation was just what I needed.”

— Lindsay F., Loveland

Questions & answers

Questions from Loveland families

Do you attend births at Medical Center of the Rockies and McKee?

Yes. I support families delivering at both Loveland hospitals, at home, and in nearby towns, working alongside your OB or midwife.

Can my husband still be involved if we hire a doula?

Yes — that’s the point. I take on the technical load, like comfort measures and positioning, so your husband can be fully present with you instead of trying to remember everything from a class.

Do you come to Loveland for lactation visits?

Yes. In-home lactation visits are available to any Loveland family, whether or not I was your doula.

Do I have to be a Christian to work with you?

No. I’m a Christian, and I’m glad to pray with you, read Scripture, or weave faith into your birth if you want that. If you don’t, you’ll receive the same respect, care, and wholehearted support either way.
