Northern Colorado
Lactation Support, in Your Own Home
Feeding a newborn is supposed to be natural. It is very often not easy. If it hurts, if you’re worried, or if you just want someone to sit with you through a feeding and tell you what they see — that’s what this is.
I’m Jenny Hedrick, a certified Lactation Specialist and birth doula serving families across Northern Colorado. I come to you, so you don’t have to pack up a newborn and drive anywhere to get help.

What a visit looks like
Ninety unhurried minutes in your own home
Bed, couch, glider — wherever you actually feed your baby. No waiting room, no clock on the wall, no getting dressed to go anywhere.
First
We talk
How feeding has been going, what’s hard, what you’ve already tried, and what you actually want — which may not be what anyone else has assumed for you.
Then
I watch a full feeding
Start to finish, however your baby normally eats. Most of what’s going wrong shows up here, and it’s hard to describe over the phone.
Last
We make a plan
Small, specific, and possible on no sleep. You’ll know what to try, what to watch for, and when to reach back out.

What we can work on
Bring me the thing that’s worrying you
- Latch and positioning
- Pain while nursing
- Reading your baby’s feeding cues
- The signs your baby is getting enough
- Building and protecting your milk supply
- Pumping, bottles, and going back to work
- Cluster feeding and night feeds
- Combination feeding, if that’s your plan
- Getting comfortable before your baby arrives
- A feeding plan that fits your actual life
If something needs clinical attention — a suspected tie, pain that isn’t improving, concerns about your baby’s weight, or signs of infection — I’ll tell you plainly and help you get to the right provider quickly. Knowing where my support ends is part of the job.

Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
When should I call for help?
Sooner than most mothers do. If feeding hurts, if you dread the next one, or if something just feels off, that’s reason enough — you don’t need to wait until it’s a crisis or until someone tells you it’s bad enough. Early problems are usually smaller and easier to turn around.
Do I need to have been one of your doula clients?
No. Lactation support is available on its own to any family in Northern Colorado. Plenty of the mothers I see had a different doula, or none at all.
Can we meet before the baby comes?
Yes, and I’d encourage it. A prenatal session runs 60–75 minutes for $90, and we cover how feeding actually starts, what the first days look like, what’s normal and what isn’t, and how to get help fast if you need it. Knowing what to expect takes a lot of fear out of the first week.
Are you an IBCLC?
No. I’m a certified Lactation Specialist through Doula and Nurturing Traditions (DNT Network). I’m trained to help with latch, positioning, comfort, supply, and the practical realities of feeding — and to recognize when something is outside what I should be handling.
An IBCLC holds a separate clinical credential. If your situation calls for one, I’ll say so and help you find one rather than keep working at it.
What if I’m not sure I want to keep breastfeeding?
Then we talk about that honestly, and I help you with whatever you decide. My job is to support you and your baby, not to talk you into a particular way of feeding. Combination feeding, pumping, weaning — those are all real options, and you’re allowed to choose them.
What areas do you serve?
I come to families throughout Northern Colorado, including Windsor, Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Severance, Johnstown, Wellington, and surrounding communities.

You don’t have to figure this out alone
Text me what’s going on and we’ll find a time. If you’re in the thick of it right now, say so — I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Serving Windsor, Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, Severance, Johnstown, Wellington, and Berthoud.
A note on scope
Lactation support provides non-clinical education, guidance, and hands-on help with feeding. It is not medical care, diagnosis, or treatment for you or your baby. When a concern falls outside the scope of lactation support, referral to a licensed healthcare provider or an IBCLC will be recommended.
